BEE SECURE Radar 2026: Focus on Artificial Intelligence

The fifth edition of the BEE SECURE Radar report has been published, providing an up-to-date overview of how children and young people in Luxembourg use digital technologies.

The report is based on surveys conducted by BEE SECURE during the 2024–2025 school year and brings together the perspectives of children, adolescents, parents, teachers and educational professionals. It analyses how the internet and digital services are used in everyday life and highlights emerging trends.

A particular focus of this edition is Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI is becoming increasingly significant in the educational context and raises new pedagogical, ethical and societal questions for schools and educational institutions.

The figures clearly illustrate how deeply AI is already embedded in the daily lives of young people:

• 84% of 17–30-year-olds report using chatbots such as ChatGPT at least occasionally.
• 19% use such applications for one hour or more each day.
• Among 12–16-year-olds, around 73% report regular use of AI chatbots.
• Nearly half of young adults (49%) perceive a positive impact on their well-being, while a proportion of respondents also view AI as a form of social support.

These findings demonstrate that AI has become part of young people’s lived reality – not only as a learning tool, but also as a means of communication and support.

For the KI Kompass, the BEE SECURE Radar 2026 represents an important reference point. It underlines the need to support young people in developing a reflective, responsible and creative approach to AI, and to assist schools in addressing this task in a structured and sustainable manner.
